Why You Jump To Conclusion on MOST Things
– 3 min read
It is all about the left and right sides of your brain
You do this differently depending on the situation and time.
When you meet someone and they start talking to you. Most of us start thinking about our reply instead of thinking. That’s the exact moment in time when you just stepped out of the conversation.
You are also only on the left side of the brain where manipulation, aggression, feminism, greed, narcissism, Machiavellianism, or manipulation for power resides. But if you stop caring about yourself(narcissism) and instead listen to the person in front of you. Depending if your right brain hemisphere is working or not.
You can use the right part of your brain to abstractly understand the other person and what they are trying to tell you.
Every time you think about something you are at a crossroads.
Your left hemisphere
You need to choose to either be dogmatic in 1’s and 0’s like:
Narcissism
Aggression
Black or White
Good or Bad
Feminism
Diversity
Equality of outcome
Inclusivity
Hot or Cold
Walk or stand still
Any “ism” you can find.
Your right hemisphere
Or you can choose to stay open to understand the person from their point of view.
That means you are walking into the unknown and it triggers neuroticism in the left side of the brain in reactive individuals. But if you can stay curious by listening and not judging. You will change your brain structure since you are learning a new thing.
You are also creating a more detailed map of the world you are living in instead of simplifying it which your left side of the brain does for you.
I am writing a longer and more detailed article on this but just to give you a taste. Read the following article until you are bored.
England and Wales had the warmest February on record
Met Office weather data also shows that this winter was less frosty than normal.
What they are doing is engaging the left side of the brain. Your black-and-white narcissistic and aggressive thinking. Depending if you have slept well or not. Your left-hand side of the brain will take different milliseconds before it hijacks your thinking.
Since BBC has primed all its readers before to be scared about the four seasons you will in 99% of the cases engage your left hemisphere and apply your old mental model of this subject.
They are deliberately, with the title, keeping you from engaging your right and abstract critical side of the brain.
It is a trick all journalists know about. They are measured by how many read their articles.
So they use the same psychological techniques as Meta, TickTok, and other social media. A failsafe mechanism for you is to always assume that what you are reading is true. Instead, as I do myself, encourage others to criticize you whenever they want to. Be ready to think critically in everyday life.
You can put a post-it on the bedroom door or the refrigerator that says.
“Don’t react. Be curious and investigate! Ask questions!
NEVER ASSUME What Your Left Hemisphere Feeds You!”
